About

Rhotech Solar

Rhotech Solar was officially founded in 2012, but the adventure began 2005 in a garage in San Francisco. It took years of building, tinkering, pulling hair, and employing nephews and sons to get Rhotech to where it is today.

A portrait of RichardRichard Rhodes

Richard Rhodes has been working on polymer based solar collectors since the early 1970’s. He co-founded Fafco Incorporated, a manufacturer of solar collectors, where as Director of New Product Development he developed a solar collector for swimming pool heating, heat exchangers for thermal energy storage applications, glazed collector products, and an all polymer integral collector storage system partially funded by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. In 2005 he began research on polymer thin-film solar collector designs, and in 2012 founded Rhotech Solar LLC. He has a B.S in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, a M.S in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester, and holds 22 U. S. patents, primarily for solar collector designs and collector production equipment.
